<p>A little bit about Erika and Kevin:</p>
<p><strong>ERIKA</strong></p>

Erika is an intermediate senior Level 2 teacher, who is completely dedicated to both her yoga practice and teaching others. She trained mostly in London, took her exams in Dublin, and regularly travels to Pune where she studied with BKS Iyengar, Gita, and still with Prashant and Abhijata. While she also has a teacher in her husband Kevin.</p>
<p>Erika, with a lot of life and energy, organizes ongoing workshops, both hers and Kevin’s, in Budapest, and regularly invites guest teachers. Apart from being a vibrant teacher, she is also a mentor, participates in organizing, teaching, translating, assisting in national teacher trainings, and is an assessor in teacher training exams in various European countries.</p>
<p>“I believe that yoga never becomes monotonous, because it is about exploring one’s own potential, improving intelligence, and cultivating inner peace. The only question is whether you want to grow and bring out the best in yourself in every sense.”</p>

<p>KEVIN is a certified, established teacher, born in New York who began yoga in 1970, and teaching Iyengar yoga in 1982. He was certified directly by Guruji BKS Iyengar, from whom he was fortunate to learn on several occasions in Pune, India over long periods of time.<br />
He was the co-founder of the Iyengar Yoga Institute in New York, had his own studio in Manhattan, traveled a lot and held workshops in North and South America, Ireland and since he married Erika, they run a studio together in Budapest.</p>
<p>Kevin is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and has been a professional actor, director, and teacher for 15 years, including seven years touring with Shakespearean productions in the traditional repertory style. Along the way, he has also practiced Tai Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu for ten years.</p>
<p>His teaching is highly detailed and textured, seamlessly incorporating many components of yoga philosophy and the Yoga Sutras, while continuously challenging students to gain greater sensitivity and awareness in each asana. He has an extraordinary practical understanding of the living anatomy of the human body and a light and quirky sense of humor.</p>

<p>With great happiness, enthusiasm and gratefulness we are welcoming a first-time-coming guest teacher Uday Bhosale in Pula. <br /><br />In past, Uday was Taekwando enthusiasts and from the time his teacher introduced him to Iyengar yoga he began learning directly from Guruji BKS Iyengar, Geeta and Prashant Iyengar. For 20 years in Pune he was learning, assisting in Therapy classes and teaching children classes. He was assisting on every Yoganushasanam convention in Pune. Uday was a member of the teachers’ contingent sent by the government of India to China on International Yoga day 2016 on behalf of RIMYI, Pune. <br /><br />Just this May was busy for him assisting BKS Iyengars granddaughter Abhijata at Iyengar yoga National convention, then assisting one of the first students of BKS Iyengar Navaz Kamdin in Pranayama convention in UK and then he himself gave national convention in Belgium. On regular basis he is giving workshops and retreats in UK and in Europe.<br /><br />Considering that Iyengar yoga is still young in Croatia, with his experience and expertise Uday is going to helps us deepen our understanding, so our future practice can develop in a healthy way. <br /><br />We will be working on strengthening out legs that are the base of and for our body and that are caring us throughout our life. <br />Standing poses infuse the body with energy. They are invigorating. In the book Yoga the Iyengar Way by Silva, Shyam and Mira Mehta, the authors state that standing poses “refresh the body and mind by removing tension, aches and pains. They stimulate digestion, regulate the kidneys and relieve constipation. They improve circulation and breathing. The back, hips, knees, neck and shoulders all gain strength and mobility through practice”. I couldn’t say this any better myself so I have included this excerpt from their book.<br /><br />We will be cultivating our body through asanas creating openness, extension and subtlety, necessary for pranayama practice. <br />“As long as there is breath in the body, there is life. When breath departs, so too does life. Therefore, regulate the breath.”<br />(Hath Yoga Pradipika &#8211; Ch.2: Š.3.)<br /><br />And last but not least preparing to do and to stay in inverted poses. <br />“This creative struggle is experienced in the headstand: as we challenge ourselves to improve the position, fear of falling acts to inhibit us. If we are each, we fall, if timorous, we make no progress. <p>We are happy to invite you to join us for Iyengar Yoga Workshop with Elizabeth Smullens-Brass, who was born in America and lives and teaches Iyengar Yoga in Berlin.<br>Elizabeth has been practicing Yoga for more than thirty years and has a Senior Intermediate Level 2 certificate. As a teacher Elizabeth is dynamic, her instructions are precise and motivating, and because of her personal approach, students are inspired to get involved, learn, and enjoy the benefits of practicing yoga.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>H.S. Arun is coming for the second time in Croatia and we are happy to welcome him in out little Pula town.</p>
<p><strong>This time Arunji will take us on the path of refinement of our perception to be able to recognize and develop our feeling/experience <i>(BHAVANA)</i> in <i>Salamba Sarvangasana</i> and to keep that feeling in other<i> asanas</i> as well.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></strong></p>
<p><i>Salamba Sarvangasana</i> (shoulder stand) is considered mother of all asanas asn Geeta Iyengar gives as example of mother that is endeavoring all her life so that her children could be happy, in that sense ‘mother of all asanas’ strive towards peace and health of the whole body. Geeta adds that it’s not exaggeration when this pose is called ‘<i>Trailokya Cintamani</i>’ &#8211; rare jewel in all three worlds. <i>S. Sarvangasana</i> calms nervous system and for that reason it’s good to practice it when person in tense, disturbed, irritated, exhausted or if the person had breakdown or is suffering from insomnia.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p>Instability begins when we get emotionally attached to those aspects which we are not and attached to those which are not ours. Patanjali says, it is the emotional instability. It takes a long time for emotions to get matured with the practice yoga. For this kind of emotions the word <i>bhavana</i> is used and he uses that word four times in Yoga Sutras.<span class="Apple-converted-space"><br />
</span>In first chapter in regard to the topic of<i> Ishvara</i> and <i>Japa</i>, where he explains that recitation, chanting of mantra <i>OM</i> has to be repeated constantly with feeling, realizing its full significance. It is not merely the verbal repetition of the syllable ‘aum’ &#8211; it has to reach the heart, penetrate into the heart.<span class="Apple-converted-space"><br />
</span>In second chapter with reference to <i>kriya yoga</i> he explains that practice of yoga reduces affliction and makes one to conceive the idea of <i>samadhi</i>, and that<i> samadhi</i> can only be reached when mature emotional intelligence is acquired and conceived.<span class="Apple-converted-space"><br />
</span>Later, while discussing <i>yamas</i> and<i> niyamas</i>, Patanjali explains that for person to be able to develop knowledge about discrimination what is proper action and what not, one needs intelligence of the brain and wisdom of the heart,<span class="Apple-converted-space"><br />
</span>And in the four chapter, he indicates what is false emotional attachment and how to remove this kind of attachment and develop pure emotional attachment.<span class="Apple-converted-space"><br />
</span>In these four times the words used are <i>arthabhavanam, pratipaksabhavanam, samadhibhavanam, atmabhavabhavanam</i>, and their importance is that they are expressing process to go for emotional stability, using dynamic efforts and intellectual maturity. <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p>In last 35 years, H.S.Arun practices and teaches art and science of yoga. While he was teaching in center in Bengalore, in 1978., he met guru BKS Iyengar and become his disciple. Also with Geeta and Prashant he sharpened his practice and with the time developed his own style of sharing this knowledge, that he gained through his teacher and through his<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>extensive practice.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
