Iako je njegov u\u010ditelj bio Krishnamacharia, (Krishnamacarya je podu\u010davao jogu TKV Desikachara, Indru Devi, K. Pattabhi Joisa..) Iyengar je razvio poseban pristup jogi, baziran na preciznosti izvo\u0111enja i poravnanju. Zahvaljuju\u0107i njemu joga je postala dostupna svima \u010dak i osobama slabijeg zdravlja i s problemima lokomotornog sustava. BKS Iyengar je i sam u mla\u0111im danima svojega \u017eivota bio vrlo osjetljivog zdravlja, ali je zahvaljuju\u0107i upornim prakticiranjem joge ipak \u017eivio do svoje 96 godine.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Iyengar joga, je forma Hatha yoge koja daje zna\u010daj detaljima, preciznosti i poravnanju u izvo\u0111enju asana i pranayame.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Temelji se na tradicionalnih osam udova joge (ashtanga), koje je Patan\u0111ali jo\u0161 prije 2500 godina izlo\u017eio u svojim Yoga Sutrama i na tome kako ih integrirati kroz joga praksu.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bit Iyengar joge je osvje\u0161\u0107ivanje i ideja djelovanja u skladu s inteligencijom. Poma\u017ee nam da se pove\u017eemo sa sobom na dubljem nivou i razvija vje\u0161tinu i razumijevanje odnosa prema sebi i prema drugima.<\/p>\n<p>Po Iyengaru postoji pravilan na\u010din kako u\u0107i, biti i kako iza\u0107i iz poze.<\/p>\n<p>Pored poravnanja\/alignment, jedan istaknuti element je raznolikost u praksi ili raspored asana &#8211; ne radi se uvijek ista sekvenca. Vrijeme provedeno u pozi je tako\u0111er va\u017eno: ta \u2018vremenska potreba\u2019 koju asana zahtjeva da bi evoluirala. Nije da naglasak na pokretu ne postoji u Iyengar jogi, ali va\u017eno je istovremeno u\u010diti kako da mirno prebivamo u tijelu. Jedna od Iyengarovih glavnih inovacija je kori\u0161tenje rekvizita kao \u0161to su remeni, ciglice, stolice, u\u017ead, dekice itd. Danas je te rekvizite uobi\u010dajeno vidjeti u ve\u0107ini joga studija, ali njihova upotreba je relativno nova u povijesti joge i dolazi direktno od Iyengara.
